OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/19/2026, officers with the Sunrise Police Department attempted to stop a 2025 BMW connected to an incident in Sunrise. The driver did not stop, and police chased the vehicle at high speed toward Parkland. During the pursuit, the officer lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later, the BMW was found submerged in a canal near Nob Hill Road and Loxahatchee Road. Dive teams later located Jerome Turner inside the canal, deceased. Investigators said high speed contributed to the crash.
