On 04/18/2026, deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Bobwhite Circle. Rexell Dallas Rice entered the home with multiple firearms and fired shots inside while several people were present. A deputy arrived and was shot during the initial encounter. Additional officers responded as Rice continued firing inside the residence during a prolonged standoff. Authorities later entered the home and found Rice dead from gunshot wounds. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
