On 04/21/2026, Adair County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Kentucky State Police responded to reports of multiple shootings on Chestnut Grove Road. Authorities identified Ryan Sneed as the person responsible for multiple fatal shootings prior to police arrival.

Officers located Sneed at a residence and established a perimeter. During the standoff, police reported Sneed had a firearm and continued to pose a threat.

As officers attempted to resolve the situation, the encounter escalated. Officers opened fire and shot Sneed. He died from his injuries.
