Police responded to a report of a person with a gun at a business on Hendersonville Road. When officers arrived, James Jones fired at police through a glass door. Officers opened fire and struck him. He was transported to a hospital where he died. One officer was injured by broken glass during the exchange. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
