On 04/22/2026, Woodstock Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 575 near Highway 92. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and drove away. Police chased the vehicle along Interstate 575 to the Towne Lake Parkway exit ramp. During the pursuit, an officer used a patrol vehicle to stop the SUV. After the vehicle was stopped, the driver fired at officers. An officer opened fire, striking him. Jeffrey Parker died from his injuries. One officer was injured during the exchange. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.
