OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/21/2026, a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a vehicle in Crisp County after observing it strike another vehicle. The driver, Dyllyn Willoughby, did not stop. Police chased the vehicle from Crisp County into Tift County. During the pursuit, Willoughby pointed a handgun at the trooper. A trooper performed a PIT maneuver, disabling the vehicle on Interstate 75 South near Exit 59. As law enforcement attempted to take him into custody, Willoughby shot himself. He was pronounced dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported that no officers fired their weapons.
