OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/23/2026, U.S. Marshals Service deputies attempted to arrest Cassondra Sauber at a residence at 309 West Pine Street in Deming on an extradition warrant. Deputies made entry and later established a perimeter after an initial encounter with Joseph McDowell inside the home. Officers attempted to get both individuals to surrender. After no response, officers deployed a drone and robot into the residence and found Sauber dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
