OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/23/2026, Savannah Police Department officers attempted to stop a black Chevrolet Trailblazer shortly before 10:00 p.m. for an undisclosed traffic violation. The driver refused to stop. Police chased the vehicle westbound through city streets. During the pursuit, the driver ran a red light at the intersection of Capital Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and crashed into a Nissan Juke. The impact struck the Nissan on the driver’s side and ejected both occupants. Both occupants were pronounced dead. Officers detained the driver of the Trailblazer and two passengers. Authorities stated one passenger had outstanding felony warrants. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.
