On 04/15/2026, East Lansing Police Department officers responded to a reported theft at a business near Lake Lansing Road and Abbot Road that escalated into a stabbing incident. Police located Isaiah Christopher Kirby, a 21-year-old Michigan State University senior. Officers reported that Kirby was holding a knife and moved toward them after they ordered him to drop it.
