OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Palm Springs police responded around 2:35 p.m. to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 290 block of West San Rafael Drive. Officers found a man with non life threatening gunshot wounds and identified a known suspect who fled into a nearby commercial building. Police surrounded the building and carried out an hours long standoff while attempting to contact the man. After obtaining a search warrant and entering the building, officers found the man dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. The wounded man was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office had not yet publicly released the man’s identity.
