OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/29/2026, Richfield police officers responded to reports of a person entering vehicles in the 7500 block of Morgan Avenue South. Officers located Desaver Hollis nearby and chased him on foot after he ran. Police said Hollis fired a handgun during the pursuit, striking an officer in the hand. Officers returned fire and killed him. The injured officer was transported to a hospital and later released. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
