On 04/28/2026, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and Victoria police attempted to arrest George DeLaRosa near Linwood Drive and East Airline Road. Police said DeLaRosa was wanted on multiple felony warrants. During the operation, police said DeLaRosa produced a gun and officers opened fire, killing him. Authorities said he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police closed nearby roads while investigators processed the area. The Texas Rangers are conducting the independent investigation into the shooting.
