On 04/27/2026, Hall County deputies and Flowery Branch police responded to a confrontation near the I-985 exit ramp at Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch. Police said a man armed with a gun barricaded himself during a standoff with officers. During the confrontation, the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers discharged their weapons. Authorities closed portions of the exit ramp area overnight while investigators processed the location.
