OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 04/24/2026, deputies with the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in the 400 block of 6th Street NW in Pine Island to execute arrest and search warrants connected to a juvenile sexual assault investigation. Deputies made contact with William Wayne Prigge outside the residence, but police said he retreated back inside the home. Deputies secured the area and attempted to continue the warrant service. A short time later, deputies heard a single gunshot from inside the residence. Officers entered the home and found Prigge dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers discharged their weapons.

Authorities said the warrants included allegations of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile. Investigators previously executed a search warrant at the residence on 04/17/2026 as part of the investigation.

An autopsy by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a suicide.
