On 04/29/2026, Prince George’s County Police Department officers responded to a reported theft in progress at a business in the 11900 block of Livingston Road involving two men. An officer encountered the men as they left the business and the driver sped out of the parking lot. Police followed the vehicle on Indian Head Highway near Palmer Road. The vehicle crashed a short time later, killing the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Juan McMillian of Washington, D.C. A passenger survived with injuries reported as non-life-threatening. Police stated the officer was driving an unmarked vehicle and did not activate emergency lights or sirens. The Maryland Attorney General’s Office Independent Investigations Division declined to investigate following a preliminary review.
