Event : Motorcycle driver killed by police chase crash

On 05/03/2026, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding on westbound Interstate 80 in Lincoln around 7:50 p.m. Police said Jeffery McDonald, 59, refused to stop and accelerated away. Police chased the motorcycle through traffic on Interstate 80 as McDonald drove onto the shoulder and exited the interstate near mile marker 395. While taking the off-ramp, McDonald lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Troopers arrived moments later and called for paramedics. McDonald was pronounced dead following the crash. The Nebraska State Patrol requested the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office conduct the investigation. Police said the pursuit lasted less than three minutes.
