On 05/04/2026, law enforcement officers responded to a reported home invasion and vehicle theft in Valentine, Texas. Authorities said Noel Armendariz forced entry into a residence, stole multiple vehicles, and drove through several counties while police chased him through Jeff Davis and Presidio counties. Valentine ISD was temporarily placed on lockdown during the incident.
According to authorities, Armendariz opened fire on pursuing officers during the chase. Officers opened fire during the confrontation, striking and killing him near Highway 90 outside Valentine.
Authorities initially stated they did not know the man’s identity for several days after the shooting. The Texas Rangers are conducting the investigation.
