OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/05/2026, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Interstate 75 after deputies said the driver was speeding and driving recklessly. The driver did not stop. Deputies chased the vehicle southbound on Interstate 75. Police said the fleeing vehicle crossed into northbound lanes and crashed head on into another vehicle near Arkwright Road. Two people in the struck vehicle were killed. The fleeing driver and another occupant suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital. Interstate 75 was shut down for several hours during the investigation. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
