Investigators with the Texas Attorney General’s Office attempted to arrest Matthew Cruz at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Outlet Boulevard in Fort Worth. Authorities said Cruz was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation out of Johnson County. During the encounter, police said Cruz displayed a firearm and exchanged gunfire with investigators. Officers opened fire and killed him. Fort Worth police and the Texas Rangers responded to assist with the investigation. Authorities said no officers were injured during the shooting.
