OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/08/2026, a Peoria police officer responded to the 500 block of Hamilton Boulevard near the Four Points by Sheraton hotel after reports of a domestic disturbance involving Cortez White and Ashley N. Stenson. Police said White shot and killed Stenson before exchanging gunfire with the responding officer. The officer opened fire, striking White multiple times. White was transported to a hospital where he later died during surgery. Stenson was also pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. Police said multiple rounds struck the nearby hotel during the exchange of gunfire. Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting.
