On 05/12/2026, Camden County deputies responded after reports of a man walking along Interstate 95 near Exit 14 beside an abandoned vehicle while carrying a rifle bag and accompanied by a dog. Deputies encountered the man on the interstate shoulder. Authorities said the man shot the dog and then died from a self inflicted gunshot wound during the encounter. Southbound Interstate 95 lanes near Exit 14 were shut down while investigators processed the area. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist with the investigation.
