OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY : On 05/12/2026, Tulsa police responded to a reported crash near North Hartford Avenue after Mitchell Folsom allegedly fired a handgun at his girlfriend while she was driving during an argument. Police said the shot missed the woman and passed through the driver’s side window, causing her to lose control of the vehicle and crash into another truck. Police said Folsom exited the vehicle, pointed a gun at another driver, and ran toward the area of Walt Whitman Elementary School. Officers searched the area and found Folsom in a pond near the school. During the confrontation, police opened fire and killed him. Police said Folsom had recently been released from prison several weeks earlier. The involved officers were placed on administrative leave pending investigation.
