OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/11/2026, Mariposa County deputies searched for Keith Capron after authorities accused him of shooting another person twice in the head during an attempted homicide in the Coulterville area. Deputies said Capron fled the area in a stolen vehicle and abandoned it near Schilling Road. Law enforcement later located Capron during the search operation. Police said Capron shot himself before deputies could take him into custody. Authorities reported that the shooting victim survived and was transported for medical treatment.
