On 05/12/2026, Searcy police responded to a disturbance call at a service station near Maple Street and Holmes Road in Searcy, Arkansas. Witnesses told police that Cordney Sherod Stewart allegedly fired a weapon inside and outside the business. During the encounter, a Searcy police officer opened fire, striking Stewart. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No officers were reported injured. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the shooting.
