On 05/13/2026, deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Highway 59 near Slone Road. Police said Trinidad Alonzo Torres was believed to be fleeing Tennessee, where he was scheduled to appear in court on child sexual assault charges. Deputies said they saw a gun between Torres’ legs during the stop and stepped back after he allegedly reached for it. Torres drove away and police chased him into Panola County at high speeds. The pursuit ended after Torres crashed on Highway 59. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and Torres shot himself in the head before officers could take him into custody.
