OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/07/2026, officers with the Lubbock Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle near 34th Street and Frankford Avenue. Police said the driver, identified as Gene Davis, did not stop and officers chased the vehicle through south Lubbock. During the pursuit, Davis allegedly drove through the intersection of 93rd Street and Memphis Avenue and struck a 70 year old man who was walking his dog. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital and later died from his injuries. Police arrested Davis after the crash and charged him with evading arrest causing death. Authorities have not publicly released the name of the pedestrian.
