On 04/03/2026, officers with the New Iberia Police Department attempted to stop a blue Cadillac sedan shortly after midnight. Police said the driver did not stop and officers escalated a chase through New Iberia.

According to investigators, the fleeing vehicle traveled at high speed through curves and no passing zones before losing control and crashing near Canal Road and Admiral Doyle Drive. Police said the driver died from injuries sustained in the crash.

New Iberia police stated the driver had an outstanding felony warrant connected to a stolen firearm investigation related to a 2024 homicide case.
