On 05/14/2026, Baltimore police responded to reports of a suicidal man with a gun near the 800 block of South Caton Avenue in southwest Baltimore. An officer encountered Louis Jackson on foot near Wilkens Avenue. According to the Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division, Jackson fired a shot before officers confronted him. Police said officers gave commands and two officers opened fire, striking him multiple times. Jackson was transported to Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police recovered a revolver at the location. One police vehicle was struck by gunfire during the incident. No officers were injured. The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is investigating the shooting. Body camera footage was recorded and is expected to be released.
