On 05/11/2026, officers with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Department responded to the Victory Station area in downtown Dallas after reports of a disturbance involving several juveniles. Police said a 17 year old identified only as K.B. assaulted a DART officer during the encounter.

According to investigators, officers attempted to restrain K.B. and a physical altercation followed near Victory Park Lane and Houston Street. Police stated that during the struggle K.B. gained control of a Taser and used it against an officer. An officer then opened fire, striking K.B. Authorities transported him to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Texas Rangers opened an investigation into the shooting. DART officials stated that at least one officer received medical treatment following the altercation.
