OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/14/2026, Pueblo police responded to reports of a fight involving weapons at Drew Dix Park on Massari Road near Colorado State University Pueblo. Police said the people involved left before officers arrived. Officers later located a van connected to the incident on Carousel Lane with three people inside. During the encounter, police said one of the people in the van had a handgun. An officer opened fire, striking 19 year old Tayshawn Redford. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating. Multiple officers and one dispatcher were placed on administrative leave following the shooting.
