On 05/17/2026, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic violence related incident near North Weasel Way and Ponderosa Lane in Franktown. Police stated John Gorham was involved in an armed confrontation with deputies that escalated into a standoff. During the encounter, deputies fired their weapons. The Douglas County Coroner later determined Gorham died from a self inflicted gunshot wound and stated no other gunshot injuries were found on his body.
