On 05/18/2026, Conewango Township Police Department officers responded to Jackson Run Road in Conewango Township, Pennsylvania, for a welfare check involving a person reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, officers encountered a person holding a gun. Police said the individual did not comply with commands to drop the weapon. Officers opened fire, striking the person. The individual was pronounced dead after the shooting.
