On 05/21/2026, Spokane police responded to the 2000 block of North Cincinnati Street after reports of a domestic violence incident involving Kaleb Hassel, 28. Police said Hassel was armed and threatening suicide while his wife and children were inside the residence. Officers attempted to negotiate with him during the confrontation. During the encounter, Spokane police opened fire and killed Hassel. Police stated alcohol or drugs may have been a factor. The Spokane County Medical Examiner later identified the man as Kaleb Hassel.
