OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/21/2026, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force responded to the 2100 block of Westchester Drive after reports that Jonah Neal was threatening to harm himself. Police stated that Neal was inside the residence with multiple weapons. During the confrontation, a Homeland Security Investigations special agent opened fire. Neal was pronounced dead. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation officials stated that it remains unclear whether Neal died from the agent's gunfire or from self inflicted wounds. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
