OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/07/2026, Brantley County deputies went to a home on Pat Harris Road to arrest Thomas Kenneth Bowen III on outstanding warrants. Deputies said Bowen got into a truck towing a boat and trailer and drove away, prompting deputies to escalate a vehicle chase through Pat Harris Road and Hoke Road. Police said Bowen stopped the truck on Hoke Road, got out, and attempted to disconnect the trailer. Deputies said Bowen then pulled a handgun and fired at deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking and killing Bowen. No deputies were injured. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
