On 05/25/2026, a Georgia state trooper attempted to stop a Hyundai Elantra traveling about 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 20 West in Fulton County. Police said the driver, identified as 26 year old Fre’shun Tyai White of Marietta, initially slowed before accelerating away. Troopers said White crossed multiple lanes of traffic, exited at Boulevard, then abruptly attempted to merge back onto the interstate, nearly causing a collision.

According to investigators, the trooper could not safely continue directly behind the vehicle and exited separately. Police said White lost control near a gas station off the exit area and crashed into several people standing in the parking lot. A woman who was struck died from her injuries. Three additional people were reportedly seriously injured.

Authorities charged White with multiple offenses connected to the pursuit and crash. The identity of the woman killed had not been publicly released as of initial reporting.
