On 05/26/2026, Hendricks County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence in the 600 block of Edgewood Drive in Danville. Indiana State Police said deputies encountered a man repeatedly moving in and out of the home while holding a rifle. Officers from multiple surrounding agencies, along with the Hendricks County Joint Tactical Team, responded to assist.

Authorities stated negotiators attempted to communicate with the man for an extended period. Police alleged the man eventually exited the residence holding the rifle and pointed it toward officers. Multiple deputies and officers opened fire, striking him. Officers rendered aid after the shooting, but he died from his injuries.
