On 05/24/2026, law enforcement officers pursued Cory Nott, 57, into the Bodega Bay area during an investigation connected to alleged child sexual abuse offenses. Police chased Nott to the Bird Walk Coastal Access area along Highway 1, where a standoff developed near the shoreline. According to investigators, Nott died from a self inflicted gunshot wound at the end of the confrontation. Authorities stated officers did not fire their weapons during the incident.
