On 05/29/2026, officers with the Grandfield Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Christian Blanco Rodriguez, 35, of Grandfield. Rodriguez did not stop and a pursuit followed. The chase ended after his vehicle became disabled near the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 and U.S. Highway 183 in Tillman County. Rodriguez remained inside the vehicle and a standoff followed involving the Tillman County Sheriff's Office and Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Officers later opened fire, killing Rodriguez. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the shooting. Authorities identified the man who died as Christian Blanco Rodriguez.
