OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/29/2026, officers with the Papillion Police Department responded to reports of shots fired outside Ming's Restaurant in Tara Plaza. Police said James Bolter III left the area in a vehicle before officers arrived. Officers located the vehicle and escalated a chase through Papillion. Police alleged that Bolter fired at officers during the pursuit and again near the Home Depot parking lot at 712 North Washington Street. Under unclear circumstances, officers opened fire and critically wounded Bolter. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Sarpy County Force Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.
