OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/03/2026, police responded to reports of a domestic violence incident involving two vehicles in Fredericksburg. Police stated that a man chased the mother of his children in a separate vehicle along Olde William Street and Emancipation Highway and fired multiple shots into her vehicle. The woman attempted to escape but crashed near College Avenue and Emancipation Highway. She was transported to a hospital and later died. Investigators later determined that she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds before the crash. Two children, ages 7 and 3, were inside the vehicle and suffered minor injuries from the crash. As police arrived, they observed the man's vehicle attempting to leave the area and initiated a chase. The pursuit continued to Wilderness Lane, where the man died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Police stated that no officers fired their weapons. Authorities identified both deceased individuals as the parents of the two children. The investigation remains ongoing.
