OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/02/2026, deputies with the York County Sheriff's Office responded to the Sycamore Fort Mill apartment complex at 1555 Paddock Club Lane to arrest Yves Venne on charges involving crimes against children. Deputies located Venne in the parking lot and attempted to take him into custody. Police stated that Venne had a tire iron and moved toward deputies during the encounter. Deputies opened fire, striking Venne. He was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. No deputies were reported injured. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was requested to conduct an independent investigation into the shooting.
