On 05/20/2026, law enforcement officers were searching for Justin Joseph Howard in connection with the reported abduction of a woman and a stolen vehicle associated with a Clear Alert. Officers received information that the vehicle was located in a field near Old Plum Highway and Egypt Road outside La Grange. A drone was used to confirm Howard and the woman were inside the vehicle. Police stated that as officers approached, Howard exited the vehicle while holding the woman in front of him and allegedly had a firearm. Officers opened fire, striking and killing Howard. The woman was recovered alive and was not physically injured. The Texas Rangers are conducting the investigation.
