OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/03/2026, a Pittsburg Police officer who had completed his shift observed Jalen Dior Green acting erratically near the 200 block of West 3rd Street. According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Green removed his clothing and ran alongside the officer's patrol vehicle. When the officer attempted to detain him, Green resisted and a physical struggle ensued. Police reported that a Taser was deployed but did not subdue him. During the altercation, Green allegedly grabbed the officer's flashlight and struck him in the head. A second officer arrived to assist as the struggle continued. Investigators stated that Green picked up the flashlight and raised it toward an officer during the fight, at which point an officer fired multiple shots, striking him. Officers and EMS personnel attempted lifesaving measures before Green was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m. The involved officer was treated for a head injury and released. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
