On 05/18/2026, Fresno Police and SWAT officers surrounded a residence near Bardell Avenue and Vine Avenue while searching for Paul Rodriguez Cisneros. Authorities reported that Cisneros was wanted after a domestic violence incident and the shooting of a Fresno police officer the previous evening. Investigators stated that Cisneros had threatened his wife, fired at responding officers, wounded one officer, and fled in a stolen police patrol vehicle. After an extensive manhunt, officers located him at a residence in southwest Fresno. Following a lengthy standoff, officers found Cisneros suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital. Fresno Police later announced that Cisneros died from his injuries while hospitalized. Authorities reported that officers did not shoot him during the final encounter.
