OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/05/2026, Cobb County Police officers attempted to stop a Cadillac SUV that was reportedly being driven recklessly near Windy Hill Road and Osborne Court SW in Marietta. Police reported that the driver, later identified as Gregory Hill Jr., fled and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn in a residential yard. Officers approached the crashed SUV and reported hearing a gunshot. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Hill fired a handgun at officers as they approached the vehicle. Officers returned fire, striking Hill. Hill remained inside the SUV for approximately 90 minutes while negotiators and the Cobb County SWAT Team responded. He was later found dead inside the vehicle. The GBI is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.
