On 06/06/2026, deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 5000 block of Bloomfield Road in Macon. During the encounter, deputies confronted Joshua Epps, who authorities reported was armed with scissors. Deputies opened fire, striking Epps. He was transported to Atrium Health Navicent, where he died from his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the shooting.
