OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY : On 06/07/2026, a Round Lake Beach police officer attempted to stop a white pickup truck near Cedar Lake Road just south of Rollins Road. The driver fled, and the officer pursued the truck for approximately five blocks before terminating the pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle. Approximately four minutes later, another Round Lake Beach police officer located the pickup after it had crashed into a traffic signal pole at the intersection of Rollins Road and Route 83, about one mile from where the pursuit ended. Officers rendered aid before Hector Guzman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the crash.
