On 06/06/2026, Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to stop a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle near Highway 78 and Midview Drive because it was not displaying a license plate. The rider, Ricardo Roblero Arriaga, 29, fled and a deputy initiated a pursuit. A short time later, Arriaga lost control of the motorcycle and crashed near the intersection of Dunmeyer Hill Road and Maria Eden Road in Summerville. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
