On 06/06/2026, Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to stop a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle near Highway 78 and Midview Drive because it was not displaying a license plate. The rider, Ricardo Roblero Arriaga, 29, fled and a deputy initiated a pursuit. A short time later, Arriaga lost control of the motorcycle and crashed in Summerville. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
